Director of Community Services

Summary of Position:

Under the supervision of the President/CEO, the Director of Community Services will oversee the development and implementation of community-based programs and services. The Director will focus outreach, community engagement, support services and educational initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

a. Program Design

  • Develop, implement, and monitor community-based services programs. PHP, SURE, STRMU, Intake/Outreach, Crisis Intervention, and HOPWA-Bulk Leasing, to include but not limited to.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external partners to expand service offerings and reach.
  • Create outreach programs to identify and serve vulnerable populations.
  • Design and execute community engagement strategies to promote awareness and access to services.
  • Drive identified grant outcomes and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure program and staff alignment with organizational mission and goals.

b. Compliance and Operations

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for community-based services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Manage budget goals and resources for community-based programs.
  • Supervise staff involved in community outreach, case management, and support services.
  • Coordinate with other departments to integrate community-based services with existing programs.
  • Monitor program outcomes and metrics to track performance and impact.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to program staff to ensure effective program implementation and client support.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and funders to secure resources and support for community-based initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Campus Services to align program goals and outcomes.
  • Participates in any and all Quality Management activities.

Qualifications:

Extremely strong customer service skills. Must be able to speak, read and write in Spanish proficiently. Must be able to speak, read and write in English proficiently. Experience within a residential/apartment setting is a plus. Other qualifications include: familiarity with existing social services and community resources; a working knowledge of HIV/AIDS; organizational skills, and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team.  Ability to access all properties including those which are not equipped with handicapped accessible features. Must be able to negotiate stairways and to access emergency alarm equipment. Racial and cultural sensitivity is essential. A valid driver license is required

  • Supervisory and Management Experience of at least 5 years
  • BA/BS required in social work, human services, or related field, MSW, LCSW, or three years of experience.
  • A willingness to challenge their team professionally through creative recognition and or performance software tools.
  • Experience in community based low-income housing, human needs and particularly in the field of HIV/AIDS care is highly desired. Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience providing case management to populations with issues including mental illness, substance abuse, chronic health and/or homelessness.
  • Adaptability to work both independently and in varying work settings.
  • A passion for community engagement and the promotion of services.
  • Familiarity with windows and varying case management data systems. Research documentation and PowerPoint proficiency will be given high preference.
  • Access to reliable transportation required as well as a willingness to frequent community outlets.

Salary: $67,000.00 – $72,000.00 per year
